We The People of Detroit has been in ongoing communication with DWSD Director Gary Brown and other members of his team over the past several months.
As we've consistently reiterated, We The People of Detroit (WPD) supports the overall goals of reducing arrears and guaranteeing water access for all. Therefore, we will continue to advocate for the community and work to ensure that we are moving toward a permanent water affordability plan in the city of Detroit.
Additionally, we will continue to ask that DWSD make an effort to work in genuine, authentic collaboration with the community and water justice advocates.
Below is a copy of the letter we received from Director Brown, annotated with our remaining concerns, as it pertains to the DWSD Lifeline Plan.
